What the funder says

Applications accepted through November 10, 2026 for Spring 2027 awards to U.S.-based community organizations. Operating support and specific programs are both considered, with no geographic preference within the United States. Typical awards are $1,000–$20,000 and requests are expected within that range; actual awards may be less than requested. Fiscal sponsorship and 990-N filings are explicitly accommodated. Status updates by the end of April and final decisions for further-considered requests by the end of May; no emergency grants.

Eligibility

The foundation considers U.S.-based community nonprofit organizations for which small funding could make a large difference; listed interest areas are examples, not exclusive annual priorities. Individuals, businesses/LLCs and non-U.S.-based organizations are not eligible. Ordinary 501(c)(3) applicants must submit at least one completed Form 990 with the application; 990-N/postcard returns are accepted. Fiscal-sponsored applicants follow the foundation’s specific profile instructions, including their own EIN rather than the sponsor’s, and supply the sponsor’s latest 990 and determination letter; no no-project-EIN alternative is established. Publicly supported institutions may substitute a senior administrator’s signed statement of support and latest operating budget. Qualifying 990-exempt faith-based organizations may substitute an operating budget showing actual income and expenses. Missing required financial attachments can cause automatic disqualification; materials cannot be supplied later by email. Ordinary tax documentation must establish Section 501(c)(3)/not-private-foundation status. No numerical budget, paid-staff or incorporation-age minimum is established by the reviewed pages.

Application requirements

Deadline November 10, 2026, 11:59pm EST, for Spring 2027 consideration. One complete initial application collects two concise summaries, a three-page letter of request, most recent 990 or permitted alternative, an itemized program budget when requesting program support, and determination letter or permitted alternative; PDF attachments. Plain formatting, no embedded photos/graphs/charts or unsolicited additional materials. No LOI/introductory letter or second full narrative proposal is required, although additional financial information may be requested. Portal account and one maintained organization profile required; duplicate profiles and attached applications are deleted without notice. Foundation requests a general organization login email, which users cannot change themselves. Submitted applications cannot be edited. No consecutive Spring/Fall or Fall/Spring round requests; same round in different years permitted, one request per round. No multiyear funding requests. Operating and program support equally considered; indirect costs case-by-case with no fixed percentage. Typical award/request range $1,000–$20,000 is described in text rather than encoded as guaranteed award limits; partial awards possible. Status update by end of April; further-considered applicants final decision by mail by end of May. Funds expected spent within one year of receipt; brief narrative report within six months to one year of receipt. Applying at least one week early is recommended, not a separate deadline. No emergency awards, proposal consultations or individual feedback.
