Eligibility

US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations listed in IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search

Your organization must be a US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and be listed in the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search. Individuals, for-profit organizations and organizations without 501(c)(3) nonprofit status are not eligible. The foundation does not currently validate applications using the Official Catholic Directory. A fiscal-sponsor alternative is not established by the reviewed instructions.

Application requirements

Three-step online proposal, completed in one sitting. Required: copy of organization 501(c)(3) documentation, such as an IRS determination letter. Up to eight supporting attachments; other materials such as brochures, photos or budgets may be uploaded. Applicants have no account for saving or changing submitted content and should keep their own proposal copy. Only one application per organization; the older application is deleted and only the newest is retained. Email confirmation follows submission. Decisions typically occur in December, with notification by early January. The October 31, 2026 closing time and timezone are not specified. Current award range, specific expense permissions and nonprofit budget/staff/history thresholds are not established by the reviewed guidance.
